Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell was an actress on television, former chef at the Institute of Culinary Education and previously taught cooking. She's the host of Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network and the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, with her signature spiky blonde locks and pumped-up persona on the Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Cook series, shares simple and easy to master techniques for home cooks. Chef Burrell worked in New York at top restaurants and studied the Italian culinary practices and the landscape. Also, she was a contestant on Iron Chef America on Food Network. While growing up in Upstate New York, Chef Burrell was captivated by food and cooking from an early age. She pursued her passion for working in the restaurant business by enrolment at The Culinary Institute of America after obtaining a degree in English and Communications from Canisius College, Buffalo NY. I loved every minute that I was a student of The Culinary Institute of America she declares. It was hard to study, do or work enough. After graduating from the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners Chef Burrell spent an entire year in Italy learning and working in La Taverna del Lupo restaurant in Umbria and La Bottega del 30 one Michelin star in Tuscany. In her time in Italy she came to comprehend and appreciate the philosophy behind Italian food and culture that has had a profound impact on her culinary point of view. Burrell was an Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board member, which aims to increase the lives of kids who are facing difficulties. Burrell also serves as a Juvenile Disease Research Foundation celebrity spokesperson and promotes awareness about childhood diabetes. She has been a frequent speaker at conferences and travels across the nation in her mentorship role. Throughout Anne's culinary journey she has always said I feel very fortunate to share my passion for life with people.
